V for Vendetta airs on China Central Television

Friday night raised a lot of hopes about the Chinese Communist regime loosening censorship. V for Vendetta, a movie about a oppression and totalitarianism, aired on China Central Television, the only company with a nationwide broadcast license. The movie never appeared in Chinese theaters, though it’s unclear whether it was ever banned.

Some even say that it’s all about the ruling Communist Party’s newly installed leader Xi Jinping’s desire to change the system.
