The 5 Weirdest Superhero Movies of All Time

Believe it or not, there are superhero movies out there that are not so much about saving the world, as they are about making us laugh.

The heroes in these films are not your average superheroes, but rather the kind of characters that you have trouble understanding or sympathizing with.

Here are the five weirdest superhero movies of all time.

5. Super (2010)

James Gunn’s Super tells the story of Frank (Rainn Wilson), who becomes a superhero in order to rescue his wife from the arms of drug dealer (Kevin Bacon). Lacking actual powers, Frank fights his enemies off with a wrench.

With. A. Wrench.

Also, the characters are all quite damaged, and it does makes one ponder what kind of person chooses to become a superhero.

4. Supersonic Man (1979)

The Spanish version of Superman can see through walls, lift bulldozers (which are obviously wooden props), and turn handguns into bananas. He’s on Earth to stop Dr Gulik (Cameron Mitchell), an evil genius billionaire who wants to kidnap a famous scientist and develop a world-conquering weapon.

In other words, a mild-mannered Spanish-speaking superhero has to defeat a crazy American billionaire in order to save the world from destruction.

3. Big Man Japan (2007)

  1. There are some Bollywood movies that are slightly weird. They are below in order of release
    1) Mr. India- A normal man who turns invisible after wearing a watch.
    2) Krrish: The first movie is Koi Mil Gaya followed by three sequels. A mentally challenged boy is given super powers by a small blue alien.
    3) Ra.One: The super hero is G.One. Essentially game characters become real.
    4) Drona: This is possibly one of the worst Bollywood movies I have ever seen.

  2. This was an interesting look at different country’s movies in a genre I like. Not going to lie, I’m probably going to hunt down “HK: Forbidden Superhero”. It has a level of weird – well all of them do – that I appreciate.

  3. Missing from this list and very much deserving of honorable mention among “Weirdest Superhero Movies of all time is Matt Stone & Trey Parker’s 1997/1998 comedy superhero flick, “Orgazmo”.

    “Prepare to meet your doom!”.
