The Ten Most Shocking ‘Game of Thrones’ Moments

Disclaimer: Spoilers. Obviously!

Over the course of Game of Thrones, a show created by folks who weren’t shy on breaking our hearts, we were treated with some unexpected twists…

That’s why we decided to put together a list of the 10 most shocking moments in the show. Spoilers to follow.

10. Tyrion murders Tywin

After a phony trial in which Tyrion kept insisting on his innocence, and his father constantly belittling him, the fates smile upon the “Imp” and he is helped out of jail by his brother Jaime. Before leaving Westeros, though, Tyrion murders his former lover, Shae, and his father.

9. Hodor holds the door

There were many theories about what such a strange name as “Hodor” actually means, but there were few who ever imagined one of the most emotional moments of the series: Bran and the Three-Eyed Raven are looking back in time when the White Walkers attack the Three-Eyed Raven’s tree, sending wights to kill Bran. He and Meera survive because they keep telling Hodor to “hold the door” while they make a run for it, as the child Hodor in Bran’s vision writhes on the ground, saying the words over and over again. Bran’s visions are thus revealed to be more than just visions, since his “presence” in that courtyard all those years ago acted as a bridge through time.

8. Littlefinger’s trial and execution

      1. Yeah, I was hoping the Long Night would be long. And I think the Night King died way too early. I mean, they didn’t even give us any clues as to who the Night King is and what he actually wants. The main focus is Cersei again. Then again, the title is the Game of Thrones.

      2. Well, the Dothraki are gone. The Unsullied are all but gone. Jorah is gone. Daenerys must convince the North to fight for her, otherwise I don’t see her two dragons managing to defeat Cersei’s troops, the Golden Company, and Euron.

        We’ll see.
