Showcase: Andy Warhol

Yes. It’s time to showcase one of the most famous, most influential, and most eccentric artists of the last century. Andy Warhol. American artist, director and producer, a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art. His works explore the relationship between artistic expression, celebrity culture, and advertising that flourished by the 1960s, and span a variety of media, including painting, silkscreening, photography, film, and sculpture.

  1. Do you think Andy Warhol’s work was really a great artist, or was it the cult of personality that made him great? I mean he was eccentric, and a mysterious person, but was that how he marketed himself, and was he as great as they think, or did he fool the art establishment?

      1. I don’t know if he was a con man… here in Romania we have a saying: “it’s not stupid the man who asks a certain price, it’s stupid the one who pays that price.” So if people were willing to pay a lot for his works, it was not his fault.
